Keeping your smile healthy is important to the health of your whole body. You want to maintain good dental care habits to keep bacteria at bay and prevent serious oral health issues. In addition to flossing twice daily, you need to floss every day, too. We’re sharing the benefits of this habit and tips on how you should do it.
First, check out this video by the American Dental Association that talks about the benefits:
Simple Tips on Flossing Correctly
It may sound simple enough to floss, but you want to make sure it’s done correctly. Here are a few tips:
- Get a piece of floss about 18 inches long, winding it around your two index fingers.
- Gently guide the floss between your teeth, sliding it gently between each tooth.
- Make a C shape as you floss, getting behind your tooth, too.
- Slide up and down around each tooth, hitting slightly into your gumline too.
Plus, make sure you floss before you brush your teeth. You need to brush away the food particles and other grim you picked up while flossing.
